Art Attack Blog, Week 5, term 3

WHAT?


For art attack my goal was to produce a piece of art related to our local landscape using either paint, water colour or pastel.


With Mrs Marsh I learned about foreground, midground and background in landscapes.
With Mr Forman I learned about colour and complementary colours.
With Mr Rule I looked at the different landscape features of Canterbury and Banks Peninsula.


SO WHAT?

What? 
I have been learning to solve addition problems by first jumping by a tidy number then jumping back.

So what
I have learned that when you have an equation like 73 - 28  = you can either add the same number to both sides, or you can subtract the same number from both

Now what


My next step is to use this strategy independently
My next step is to use this strategy with larger numbers
My next step is to use this strategy with l word stories
My next step is to learn the standard written form for addition and subtraction. This is called an algorithm.

My next step is to learn to subtract larger numbers such as 55 - 8 and 63 - 7 .JHHH

        I really enjoyed ....

What? 
I have been learning to solve addition problems by first jumping by a tidy number then jumping back
I have been learning to solve addition problems by using compensating from tidy numbers
I have been learning to solve subtraction problems by using equal additions from a tidy number 
I have been learning to solve addition and subtraction problems using the standard written form (algorithm)
I have been learning to solve subtraction problems by subtraction enough to get to a tidy number, then subtracting the rest.

So What?

I have learned that when you have an equation like 73 - 28  = you can either add the same number to both sides, or you can subtract the same number from both sides. 

I have learned that when you have an equation like 145 +  38  = if you add something to one side, you must take it away from the other side.

I have learned that it is easier to make one of the numbers into a tidy number as it is easier to work out the answer.

I have learned that to solve addition and subtraction problems you need to use different strategies.

I have learned what a tidy number is.

Now what      an example of a safe decision is if a man or woman in the park says "can you help me find my dog. It's lost", I would say, "No, sorry" and walk away.
